My name is Angela and I live in Switzerland with my husband and two Munchkins.

The biggest of my passions is cooking and baking. Mainly because I love to eat and try new things, but also because I don’t like to sit down, I always need to be busy! If I could don my apron for several hours every day and bake, cook or whizz something up in a blender I would be a very happy woman. In fact, my kids already know if Mummy anywhere in the house, she’s most likely in the kitchen.

In 2013, I’m mainly cooking my way through as many of the recipes in Delia Smith’s Complete Cookery Course and maybe few Swiss recipes from my newly acquired Die besten Schweizer Rezepte und ihre Geschichte. I also can’t promise that I won’t make a few recipes out of Jerusalem: A Cookbook.

Switzerland is a great place to be a foodie because everything is so seasonal. I love it. There’s always something to look forward to. When the days start getting shorter in September and summer looks as though it may finally be over, don’t despair, because pumpkins are coming! And when winter seems long and dreary (and the pumpkins are slowly disappearing), look forward to March when the first asparagus will make an appearance. And to celebrate the arrival of summer (finally), are the best strawberries I’ve ever tasted.

Why the name Eine Kugel Vanilla, you ask? Well, actually I was trying to be clever 🙂 I was looking for something halbDeutsch/half English and if it included my favourite flavour of ice cream, then that was a bonus.

Because the simplest things are pretty often the best.
