‘Quick’ and ‘Easy’ it definitely was. Almost as quick as popping all the ingredients into a bread maker. This bread has just 5 ingredients: flour, salt, water, brown sugar and yeast. I used the dough hook on my food mixer, so I didn’t even have to get my hands dirty! When the dough is in the pan, it then sits in a warm place for about an hour, then goes into the oven for about 45 minutes. I used ‘Ruchmehl’ – somewhere in the middle of a medium and whole wheat flour. It produced quite a rustic, dense bread; Delia says you can make a lighter textured loaf by using half wholewheat and half strong white flour.
